My interest in Information Security was sparked whilst doing my time in the South African Defence Force where I served as an Intelligence Officer and Instructor with 11 Commando and later 3 Parachute Battalion (Nope I am NOT a paratrooper). From day one outside of the military I was looking for my “place in the sun” and once I got into Info Sec I was home….
Post school I passed various courses with distinction, obtained my Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP) certification and if memory serves I finished my CISSP exam in about 2 hours and passed on the first try. I also obtained the ISEB Information Security Manager certification and I was amongst the first 500 in the world to achieve that.
A poor academic record is no excuse for not realizing your dreams.
